Pupil Referrals

Assessment and Advice
Pupils may be referred to our team for ICT assessment and advice. Pupils' names will be added to the waiting list for assessment by one of the Development Officers. The DO will contact the school to make an appointment to assess the pupil and discuss his / her needs with staff involved. It is essential that the class teacher and/or support for learning teacher are available for discussion at the initial visit to school.
Referral forms can be downloaded from the bottom of this page. It is in Word format, you can complete the Word document electronically. Complete the document and return it to Anne at ICT/ASL by internal mail or attach to an email.
You will be notified by email when we receive the form and your pupil will be added to our database. Someone from the ASL team will contact you to offer advice or to arrange a visit to your school.
Support for Learning staff in school have a range of resources which may be helpful. Please discuss the referral with Support for Learning and trial  school-based resources and strategies before sending in the Referral form.

eTeam provides In-service training courses on a wide range of IT topics. Some courses are directed particularly to staff working in the area of Additional Support Needs. These courses are advertised in the CPD Directory of Opportunities catalogue which is available in all schools. Additional support may be offered to staff who are using specially tailored systems for individual pupils.
Loan Bank
ICT/ASL has a loan bank of specialised hardware, software and peripherals appropriate for pupils with Additional Support Needs. This equipment consists of alternative access devices such as switches, trackballs, joysticks and alternative keyboards. Many items are only available for loan for a fixed period due to the heavy demand from schools but we can offer guidance to schools who wish to purchase their own equipment.
